ENTROPIE / ENTROPY MIXED MEDIA ON CANVAS (ACRYLIC, WOOL and YARN) 2013 - ONGOING entropia/ἐντροπία is a made-up word from the english prefix "en" meaning inside and the greek "tropē" meaning transformation. it is being used in various disciplines to describe the degree of irreversibility of a process the average amount of information contained in a message a measure of disorder or randomness in a closed system a variable stating the number of possible states of a system for me it is a project about human perception and cognition. based on radical constructivism, an inspiring position of epistemology and the psychology of perception i propose the following questions: when and from which point on is chaos, or as the case may order/harmony, being perceived? how much information is needed for this, and how does it need to be arranged? can chaos, in the sense of a complete jumble of unrelated impulses, ever be perceived? basically the entire stimulus-range is completely chaotic and is structured and being put into a meaningful order in the act of perceiving by the perceptive subject. since perception in itself is an assortative process, can chaos only be a thought and is therefore completely abstract? the same field of stimulus generates the most diverse perceptions and interpretations and it is this diversity and abundance that fascinates me and that I am seeking to discover, reveal and explore in ENTROPY. and last but not least I am interested in finding the point of peace and tranquillity between disparities (in this case order and chaos) and - generally speaking - in every relation, shall it be mental, emotional, social, physical or metaphysical. UNENDLichKEIT wirKT ACRYLIC ON OSB (oriented strand board) 2011 artistic graduation work at the academy for holistic arttherapy the title is a play on words in german: UNENDLichKEIT wirKT means 'infinity is effective' whereas the lower case letters 'ich' and 'wir' refers to 'i/me' and 'we/all of us' suggesting that if i expand myself into infinity and beyond my mental, emotional, physical and sociocultural make-believe limitations (and undertake responsability for the whole) this adds effectiveness to the whole the legend is only available in german. AND IT WENT EVERYWHERE performance/ streetwalkingevent with a2company from london 2010 VIENNA a viral, site-sensitive experience, effecting public space, engaging participants and audiences alike. with heads masked in black tights, local people attach themselves to a range of hanging points in diverse urban locations for 10mins, each time. a composed score, played intermittently on their individual mobile phones, accompanies them. through multiple interventions, spaces, buildings and situations are spontaneously re-configured and re-designed, prompting participants and chance spectators into a new relationship and awareness of their city, and of architectonic scenes.
